BSPGHAN Start-up Research Grants Awarded in 2016

BSPGHAN Start-up Research Grant 2016

In 2016, BSPGHAN funded a start-up research grant of £10,000 with an overall aim of encouraging research in any area of our specialty. The aim was to support preliminary research that will contribute significantly to a subsequent larger research grant proposal. There were no restrictions on the scope of applications which could be stand-alone projects or linked to one or more existing studies. All Members and Associate Members of BSPGHAN were eligible to apply.
The following project was supported:
A pilot study of Racecadotril in short bowel syndrome with high intestinal fluid losses; Helen Garrett, Advanced Paediatric Gastroenterology Dietician, Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
Updates regarding study progress and findings will be presented at forthcoming BSPGHAN meetings.
We hope to be able to run a similar joint start-up grant scheme with our linked charities in 2018.
